Confession & Declaration 10

Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,

The Greek word for redemption means a liberation or release from imprisonment that has been affected by payment of a ransom; a deliverance from the penalty of transgressions has been enacted; and to buy back with the purpose of restoring – breaking off the enslaving yoke of the enemy.

In the book titled The Prodigal God, its author Timothy Keller expounds on the extravagance of our God: “The word “prodigal” does not mean “wayward” but, according to Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary, “recklessly spendthrift.” It means to spend until you have nothing left. This term is therefore as appropriate for describing the father in the story as his younger son. The father’s welcome to the repentant son was literally reckless, because he refused to “reckon” or count his sin against him or demand repayment. This response offended the elder brother and most likely the local community. In this story the father represents the Heavenly Father Jesus knew so well. St. Paul writes: “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses.”(2 Cor. 5:19 – ASV) Jesus is showing us the God of Great Expenditure, Who is nothing if not prodigal toward us, His children. God’s reckless grace is our greatest hope, a life-changing experience…”

Jesus gave His all to ransom you and I so that we could be restored to whom He made us to be. Even better than that is to imagine you and I being ransomed from the demons that used to torment us. It reminds me of a song that was popular back in the 70’s titled The Victor. Here are the lyrics: Swallowed into earth’s dark womb, And death has triumphed, That’s what they say, But tried to hold Him in the tomb, The Son of Life rose on the third day.

Chorus: Just look the gates of hell they’re falling, Crumbling from the inside out, He’s bursting through the walls with laughter (Hah!) Listen to the Angels shout: It is finished, He has done it, Life conquered death, Jesus Christ has won it.

His plan of battle, You know it, He fooled them all. They led Him off to prison to die. But as He entered Hades Hall He broke those hellish chains with a cry. Just listen to those demons screaming. See Him bruise the serpent’s head. The prisoners of Hell He’s redeeming (Oh!) All the power of death is dead. It is finished. He has done it. Life conquered death Jesus Christ has won it!

Just look the gates of hell they’re falling crumbling from the inside out. He’s bursting through the walls with laughter (Hah!) Listen to the Angels shout! (Listen, oh, listen)

It is finished. He has done it. Life conquered death. Jesus Christ Has won it!

Jesus has redeemed you -with laughter and delight! He paid your ransom, restoring you back to who He made you to be. He has purchased you from satan, death, and hell and you are no longer their possession. You belong to Jesus. You are His Prized Treasure.

Declaration 9: Mighty Campion of God – Lord Jesus Christ – I praise and worship You. I declare that You have won it. You have conquered satan, hell and death ransoming me for You. Jesus I am Your treasured possession. I am Your Pearl of Great Price. You have paid for my release through the extravagance of Your Life and Love. You have broken me free from the enslaving yoke, restoring me back to life and Destinies Image. I belong to Jesus. I belong to the Father’s Kingdom. I am no longer my own but my Beloveds. He is mine and I am His. Hallelujah He has paid my dowry, and my ransom, making me His Bride forever. Hallelujah He has brought me into His Father’s House to be a member of His Forever Family. Thank You Jesus I have been redeemed by Your Precious Blood! Thank You Jesus for the riches of Your Mercy!
